A wired system in the field requires a lot of time and expense for installation and maintenance. The system can be provided over long distances with hard wire, but this may not be acceptable to growers as it may interfere with normal farming activities. A wireless data transmission system provides mobility and cost-effective relocation. Radio frequency technology offers many opportunities for the use of wireless signal communication in agricultural systems.
