. This study investigates the thermo-mechanical behavior of a functionally graded material (FGM) cylindrical rod subjected to torsional loading and temperature gradients. The problem is solved using a perturbation approach combined with fractional calculus to account for the temperature-dependent material properties and the functional grading of the material. The governing equations for mechanical and thermal equilibrium are derived, and the stress and temperature distributions are computed. The results provide insights into the stress and temperature fields within the rod, highlighting the influence of functional grading and thermal effects on the mechanical response.
