The article discusses the functions, features and operating modes of computing facilities (CS) of information transmission systems (ITS) of automated communication networks that allow automating the processes of functioning and managing the information transmission system. A classification of the operating modes of computing means of information transmission systems for various disciplines of organizing program execution is proposed, which makes it possible to formalize the process of functioning of computing means of information transmission systems with a limited number of mathematical models.
